Liposuction is basically extracting fat using a tube. So small, minimal incisions, and we can extract fat; but today's liposuction is much different than it was before. Today, we look at the entire body. We do more of a body contouring type of procedure. Sometimes we extract fat and add it to other places to achieve a better contour.

I think the benefits of going to a plastic surgeon to address liposuction is that we don't address everybody like a nail, all heads are hammered. We treat patients because we have different modalities. If someone comes into me and they are not good candidates for liposuction, they really need more of a tummy tuck. Well, I can address that. So the fact that you go to a plastic surgeon that's not tied into a certain modality, and has all the tools in their tool belt to address whatever needs you have, I think that's key.
