What is a butt lift?

If you don't want to look your age (or older), it's important to have a firm, lifted butt. The elasticity of your skin and the shape of your butt are determined by your weight, genes, and age, but plastic surgery can help you defy these factors for smooth, youthful curves. Butt lift surgery (medically known as a gluteoplasty) removes excess skin from the buttocks area, then lifts the tissue and muscles for a better shape and position. Houston area patients can enhance their buttocks with a buttock lift by board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Rafi Bidros. By removing the excess skin and fat, you can have smoother curves and a more youthful position with butt lift surgery.

Am I A Candidate For A Butt Lift?

Candidates for a butt lift surgery at MyBodyMD Plastic Surgery typically seek out a surgical alternative when their diet and exercise efforts do not correct their misshapen behind. Any time skin loses its elasticity, it is very hard to reshape the backside without either surgical tightening or removing the skin. Dr. Bidros could recommend a butt lift to older individuals with mature sagging skin, or to younger patients who have recently lost a significant amount of weight. Patients who have had one or more pregnancies might also see a difference in the firmness of the skin around their bottom.

how is a butt lift performed?

During your surgery, the patient is placed on their stomach to allow Dr. Bidros a better view and accessibility to the buttocks area. Dr. Bidros will make an incision above the  buttocks, from hip to hip, then remove excess skin and fat. Next, Dr. Bidros will adjust the position of the tissue and muscle to elevate the buttocks and give it a more youthful shape. Liposuction may be performed in combination with the buttock lift to remove unwanted fat to contour the hips and back.

how long is recovery after butt lift surgery?

The buttock lift is usually performed as an outpatient procedure in an accredited surgical facility with the patient under general anesthesia. On average, patients will return to work in 1 - 2 weeks after their surgery. Bruising and swelling will be present for approximately 2 - 3 weeks. To avoid stretching your incision, you must refrain from strenuous physical activity for at least 4 - 6 weeks or until you are given permission by your doctor. Dr. Bidros will give each patient specific instructions and helpful tips to follow before and after their surgery.

Butt Lift FAQ

what Other Procedures can lift my butt?

The buttock lift may be performed with other plastic surgery procedures, as determined by you and Dr. Bidros. For example, a tummy tuck may be done at the same time if the buttock lift is performed as part of a post-weight loss surgery. A butt lift is also commonly combined with liposuction and a lower body lift.

what about a Brazilian Butt Lift?

Despite its name, a Brazilian butt lift is not really a butt lift. Brazilian butt lifts increase the volume of the buttocks by adding fat taken from another area of the patient’s body. A Brazilian butt lift does not address excess skin or raise the position of the butt. A Brazilian butt lift (fat transfer to the buttocks) can be combined with a butt lift to optimize the patient's results.

should i get Butt Augmentation?

Dr. Bidros may suggest adding buttock augmentation using fat grafting to restore volume to the buttocks along with your butt lift. An augmentation plus lift will give you a fuller shape, remove excess skin, and give your rear a more youthful position.
