Fat Grafting
Fat grafting, also known as fat transfer or fat injections, is a surgical procedure that involves moving fat from one part of the body to another. The aim of the surgery is to enhance or improve the area where the fat is injected. Fat grafting is often used in various areas of the face and is known as facial rejuvenation. MyBodyMD Plastic Surgery’s leading plastic surgeon Dr. Rafi Bidros will remove excess fat from one area, such as the abdomen, and transfer it to an area in need of volume or correction. Fine and deep lines, as well as under the eyes and cheeks, are common areas of the face that benefit from fat transfer.
The first step of fat grafting is known as ‘liposuction’. Dr. Bidros performs liposuction to remove excess fat cells. After that, the fat cells are prepared and injected into the desired facial location. To account for the small amount of fat that will be reabsorbed by the body, slightly more fat is added than is required to meet the patient's goals.
The procedure is mostly performed under general anesthesia as Dr. Bidros’ goal is to keep all patients comfortable during surgery. Results are long-lasting and facial rejuvenation will help create a more youthful appearance. As with any surgery, bruising and swelling may occur. Fat grafting recovery is around 1-2 weeks, but most patients have said it can often be concealed with makeup after 1-week post-operation. It is important to note that the more the bruising and swelling subsides, the more visible the results will be.
One of the most popular fat grafting procedures is the Brazilian Butt Lift also known as a BBL. A BBL adds volume to the buttocks while removing unwanted fat from a problem area of the body. The procedure continues to grow in popularity in America. At MyBodyMD Plastic Surgery we cater to all patients' needs and Dr. Rafi Bidros provides a one on one consultation and personalized plan on how to achieve these needs.
