Plastic Surgery Trends for 2022

Featured Image

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons – the world’s largest plastic surgery organization released the results of its annual trends report, revealing the extent of the pandemic’s ripple effects in reshuffling nearly every aspect of the cosmetic industry, from toppling the most requested surgery to the growing consumer eagerness to spend more on the cosmetic procedures in 2021. This as a result has raised the question that still remains unanswered – will these emerging trends gain momentum and steamroll in 2022?

The pandemic situation has definitely gripped the nation in the early 2020s as many states-imposed restrictions on performing surgical procedures resulting in an overall decline in the procedures. However, women showed more interest in cosmetic surgery or non-surgical procedures post-pandemic is higher as Covid-19 has largely confined people to their homes during quarantine that significantly impacted nearly everyday aspects of their lives. While the first wave of pandemic demand saw a rush on the facial procedures in response to a significant surge in zoom calls and downtime for recovery at home, the national survey results show that tummy tucks and liposuction were among the top procedures that women were seeking to consider. The reason is attributed to weight fluctuations during quarantine and lifestyle changes.

Below is a list of popular plastic surgery procedures that are expected to hold their popularity into the new year,

• Facial enhancements

• Eyelid surgery

• Breast Augmentation

• Male breast removal

• Tummy tucks

• Liposuction

Facial skin becomes laxer with time and aging is not just facial skin getting saggier but there is a loss of volume due to loss of fat while we age. Facelifts and facial enhancements tighten up the skin of the face to reduce wrinkles caused by aging and help to restore the youthful appearance of the skin. Another sign of aging in the eye area manifests as a heavy and tired appearance in the upper eyelids. Eyelid surgery also known as blepharoplasty is one of the most common cosmetic procedures for people who strive to look younger. Many patients, both male and female are looking to make alterations with their chest whether the goal is to make the breasts bigger or smaller, breast and chest alterations have always been popular across the board and will continue to remain the same. Breast lifts, breast reductions, and breast augmentations are all procedures that enhance the appearance of the breast area for both men and women. Plastic surgery after weight loss has been a trend in recent times as there are certain areas where fat cannot be removed with physical exercise and fitness. In such cases, a liposuction or tummy tuck surgery helps to remove the fat cells and tighten the muscles in the right areas.
